This is a no BS guide to free resources for new bloggers!
I have used every single one of the 7 free resources for new bloggers that I list and detail below at some point in my blogging journey.
When I first started blogging, I didn't have hundreds or thousands of dollars to pour into my new endeavor. In fact, we were aggressively paying off debt, so I had very minimal funds to work with!
I found it super frustrating that any type of resource that other bloggers regarded as absolutely ESSENTIAL to being a successful blogger typically came with a hefty price.
Nonetheless, I managed to find some incredible free tools that will suite any blogger!
The 7 free resources for new bloggers listed below will help you tremendously no matter where you are in your blogging journey!
This free video course is by the amazing Suzi Whitford, whom I really admire and have personally learned A LOT about blogging from by taking her courses.
I started by taking this free course she offered, and it was extremely helpful.
The printables included in this course really helped me get on a consistent plan with my blog, because as a busy mom I don't have much time to spare!
You'll love this course just as much as I did!
If you want to get blog traffic from Pinterest, you're going need to have amazing pin images that stand out. Canva is a free image editor that allows you to create stunning Pinterest pins for free!
They offer a pro version as well that is paid, but to be honest the free version is all you really need, as it has a lot of functionality and comes with a lot of bells and whistles already.
I started with Canva when I first started blogging, and I've been so happy with it I haven't decided to upgrade to anything else. I'd really encourage you to give it a try!
This is not your traditional "five free stock photos" freebie- this is 550 free stock photos PLUS new free stock photos delivered to your inbox every single month.
No, this. is not a gimmick and no, there are no strings attached besides signing up for her email list. I know, I thought the same thing- too good to be true!
She has images for TONS of different niches, including:
Here are some examples of the free stock photos you will receive:
At first I downloaded Kayla's free stock photos, and I loved them so much I upgraded to a membership plan. They are STUNNING photos!
You will not be able to get free photos like this anywhere else, trust me, I looked!
To be honest, my Pinterest pins looked pretty sad for a while when I first started blogging. I did a little digging and eventually found some incredibly designed free Pinterest pin templates.
Since I didn't have a lot of pin designing experience, I signed up for Kara at Simplifying DIY Design's free Pinterest templates (they will open in Canva so be sure to create your account).
Additionally, I signed up for the free templates offered by Kristin at AppleCart Lane, she has beautiful templates to help you jump start your creativity! She has lots of great tips for creating pins that stand out in general. I got a lot of tips from her blog when I first started!
The best part about these templates is the hard work of the actual pin design is all done for you! All you have to do is change the words and pictures! How awesome is that?!
This is a great place to start if you're not a Pinterest natural (it's okay- I'm definitely not)!
Affiliate marketing is the very first way I started making money with my blog, and since I didn't have a ton of money to throw at my blog, I had to find affiliate marketing platforms that were free.
Share-a-sale is a fantastic affiliate marketing platform that is completely free to join! They have thousands of different affiliate programs you can sign up for!
They offer a wide variety of affiliate programs for almost every niche! It's extremely likely you'll be able to find at least five to ten different affiliates for your specific blogging niche.
A great way to make money through creating your own products is to create an online course with Teachable.
Suzi Whitford, a blogger whom I really admire and have learned a lot from, makes over $9k per month through her online courses with Teachable. I've taken some of her courses and they aren't anything super fancy, just incredibly valuable information!
The great thing about making an online course is that you can update your product/course and users will have lifetime access, this offers immense value to your customers/clients!
Teachable offers a free plan so that you can set up your course and see if Teachable is the right fit for you, no strings attached! You can keep the free plan even when you LAUNCH your course, the transaction fees are just higher than the paid plans!
Here's why Teachable is the best choice for an online course platform:
Teachable is the best online course platform, and one of the many perks is that you can create, customize and sell a course for free with them.
AMAZING resource for new bloggers, or bloggers who don't have a lot of money to drop on building their business! Let's be honest, not many of us do when we first start blogging- I know I didn't!
Both MailChimp and MailerLite are great email marketing platforms that offer quite a bit of value for their free service.
You can easily do what you need to with either of these free email marketing platforms if you are just starting out as a beginner blogger!
I personally started with MailChimp, and then upgraded once I started bringing in some revenue from my blog. I didn't have hundreds of dollars to throw at my blog when I first started, so this was a great option for me!
If you'd rather start with a more robust and seamless email service provider, I'd recommend Convertkit as your first choice. It's amazingly easy to set up email automations and sequences that target your audience. Once I switched to Convertkit, here's how my audience grew:
My biggest frustration when starting with Mailchimp was that setting up a sequence and opt in form was extremely difficult. Because this was so simple, I started setting up opt-in freebies right away and as you can see it was insanely successful!
I now have tens of thousands of email subscribers, and a lot of my success was because of Convertkit!
These 7 free resources for new bloggers will help you grow your blog without spending a ton of money.
Don't feel like you have to break your bank account to start a blog when you haven't built your email list and grown your traffic yet! By implementing these free resources and upgrading LATER (after I'd made some money back), I was able to steadily grow my blog!
I hope this is an encouragement to you!
