Are you interested in learning how to successfully blog for money? I'm about to dish the top ways successful bloggers make money.
I know what you're thinking, how in the heck do bloggers make money?
The simple answer is... there are endless possibilities!
Initially I thought that my niche was oversaturated and there was not enough room for me.
I decided to put myself out there anyway and start blogging, and I'm so glad I made that leap!
Never in a million years did I think I'd be making a part time income!
I don't want to be too blunt, but if you're thinking about starting a blog, FREAKING DO IT. Seriously.
There will always be an audience who loves your unique voice and message.
*steps down from soap box*
Okay, back to blogging. Here's how you can make some extra, part-time, or full-time income blogging!
Blogging hacks/tutorials:
Simply put, a display ad is a code you embed into your site that will show visitors an ad, and if they click through you earn a small commission.
Google Adsense is one of the most popular ad networks for new bloggers. Anyone can join and it's easy to use!
Once you have more traffic coming to your blog, you might qualify to join MediaVine ad network.
The benefit of using ads to make money is that it's very easy to do. Starting out, it can be one of the easiest ways to earn a little income (but there's a better way... I promise).
The downside of using ads is that they deter visitors from coming to your site, make your site slower, and you have to have a lot of traffic coming to your site to make any real money.
I do not recommend using display ads as the main focus for monetizing your site.
If you use ads, I recommend using them sparingly!
Sponsored content involves a company paying you to write an post, email, or do other social media marketing about their product.
This allows the company to gain brand awareness and potential sales from your audience.
The larger your audience, the more they are willing to pay.
Thus, if you're new to blogging, I would not recommend focusing on sponsored content as a main revenue stream.
Leasing ad space on your site involves a company paying you to place their ad on a specific area of your site.
This requires a ton of traffic to make any real money.
I would not recommend using this monetization strategy until far, far down the road.
Similar to sponsored content, a company may offer to give you one of their products for free in exchange for you writing a review on their product.
Once again, this is not a great monetization strategy (unless there's a certain product you really want).
While it's a nice idea, you want to focus on producing a cash flow from your blog, not just getting free stuff.
I make about half of my blog income from selling my own digital products, mainly printables.
I design most of my Printables in PowerPoint, and use fancy fonts and unique colors to make them pretty!
To deliver the products to my audience, I monetize these mainly through my email list. I use ConvertKit to set up automatic emails to subscribers.
Creating an online course has a huge potential for revenue , and the best part is all you have to do is create the course and then you can make money while you sleep.
A favorite course platform amongst the best bloggers is Teachable.
Everyone has knowledge to share, and an ebook is the perfect product to begin monetizing your knowledge.
You can create an eBook using a free software such as Canva, PowerPoint, Word, etc., and sell it online.
Once you create an eBook or printable, you can use SendOwl to deliver your products to your users and manage your affiliate program related to your product or service.
Alternatively, you can offer a free eBook in exchange for emails!
Using ConvertKit , you can easily deliver the eBook to subscribers and then set up an email sequence to offer those subscribers your paid products (the upgrade)!
Selling stock photography requires some initial start up fees, but this niche has huge revenue potential.
I currently use IvoryMix for my stock photos (the ones you see on my pins and post images), and I pay a pretty penny for my photos.
Consider offering a stock photo service if you're in the photography niche or have an interest in photography!
A membership site involves you offering a service (content) in exchange for a periodic or one-time fee.
Creating a membership site is a six step process:
A membership site could include videos, tutorials, printables, photos, classes, or literally anything you can think of!
Aside from digital products, the other half of my blog income comes from affiliate marketing.
I did everything wrong when I first starting affiliate marketing. Then, I took the course Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing , and within weeks I was doubling my affiliate income.
Now, half my income comes from affiliate marketing.

Freelance writing is one of the easiest and simplest ways to start making money as a new blogger.
One great benefit of freelance writing is that you are building your writing skills for your own site and getting paid to do it!
The downside of freelance writing is that it takes a lot of time (creating a portfolio, pitching to bloggers, writing content), and as a new blogger you need to savor every extra minute you have to making YOUR site and content better.
While this is a good way to earn some extra cash, don't let it take up a lot of your time.
Now that you know the different ways to make money blogging (and my humble opinion on the best ways), it's time to get your site running ! Yay!
A domain name is the URL of your site, my domain name is liverichlyspendsimply.com.
Keep in mind when you sign up for hosting you don't need to decide on a domain name right away, so take your time!
Here are a few quick tips for you when deciding on your domain name!
If you have one in mind, great! If not, think about if for a while.
You will need site hosting and a blog platform to get your blog up and running. If you use Bluehost , you will get your platform (Wordpress) AND domain name for free!
Bluehost is the best choice (and top choice amongst bloggers) because of it's unrivaled customer service, plethora of resources/tips, and low price.
With Bluehost, the actual hosting is the only upfront cost there is to starting a blog, and even then, through my link it's only $3.95 per month!
That's literally the cost of one latte.
You can start a money making blog and earn thousands for the cost of a latte.
Here's how to do it step by step!
First, head over to Bluehost if you haven't already. Your screen should look like the screenshot below!
Click the green "Get Started" button , cause you're ready to start a money making blog!
More than likely the basic hosting plan is all you'll need so go ahead and select that plan.
Remember, if for some reason you need to change this, you can always upgrade later.
Go ahead and register your domain name (and make sure it's available).
If you aren't positive on your name, that's ok! A pop up box will show up after a few seconds of viewing the page that prompts you to register later.
The next screen will ask for your basic account information to get your Bluehost profile set up.
This is where you set up your credentials for Bluehost.
Fill those in and move onto picking your hosting package!
To get the best possible deal, select the 36 month plan for $3.95/month (due up front). This comes to $142.20 for three years of blog hosting!
It's hard to think of any other business that has that low of a start up cost.
This is a simple step, just be sure to save your password either digitally or write it down.
Using a free theme (at first) is perfectly fine if you're a beginner blogger. Go ahead and select a theme, you can always change it later.
You're almost done! Get ready to live your blogging dreams out and blog your little heart out :)
Once you've selected a theme, you can start building your site exactly how you want it.
Just click " start building!"
Next, you'll be prompted to select business or personal.
Choose the applicable option.
Ta-da! You have your Bluehost hosting set up and your Wordpress dashboard is pictured below!
Now you can use the panel on the left to write posts, set up your sidebar, and customize your theme!
I'd recommend having at least 10 posts ready to be published before you make your site live.
Side note: your site will be in demo mode until you make it live, which is the next step!
Once you are ready to make you site live, go ahead and finish the process!
There are limitless ways to make money blogging.
The online world is growing at a fast pace, and I truly believe there is room for everyone.
If you've been on the fence about blogging or you aren't sure if it's right for you, i'd submit to you, what do you have to lose?
That was my motto when I first started a blog for money!
Start a blog for fun. Do it for a creative outlet. Start a blog for money.
Whatever the reason, I promise you can make your own online masterpiece!
