Being thrifty is my love language. If my husband comes home with some coupons your girl over here isn’t going to be able to keep her hands off him. I know, TMI. Sorry mom if you’re reading this. Moral of the story- I love me some DEALS.
I want to share with you five tips to ACTUALLY save money this Black Friday. Note- key word is actually.
I like to get some of my Christmas shopping done on Black Friday, but I am very careful to not drink the Black Friday kool-aide.
Translation: NOT ALL BLACK FRIDAY DEALS ARE GOOD DEALS.
This is not a free-for-all holiday to spend a sh*t ton of money in the name of savings !
Get ahead of the game this Black Friday and use my strategies below to SAVE some dollas!
If you don’t go in with a plan, your bank account won’t come out alive.
If you’re shopping in store, there’s a chance YOU won’t come out alive either. But, I digress, that is besides the point.
If you go into Black Friday without any sort of real plan, you’re not going to make smart decisions ,especially if you are impulsive. A Black Friday plan (also known as a budget) gives you permission to spend without guilt.
I DON’T LIKE GUILT, AND I LIKE TO SPEND. Sounds like a win-win.
In all seriousness, you will feel a lot better after the day has come and gone if you stick to your list and only spend what you planned.

Ok, before you go all crazy on shopping, make sure you have Ebates installed on your browser and the app installed on your phone.
They offer cash back at most stores, and they are doing DOUBLE cash back on Black Friday if you show the app in store.
FREE MONEY FRIENDS. FREE MONEY.
Some of my favorite stores to use the app on include (double cash back % to the right):
Black Friday deals on Ebates starts on 11/21 at 5pm PST and Cyber Monday deals start on 11/25 at 5pm PST!
This is a no-brainer because it is literally free money.
Studies have shown that Black Friday sales often are not much different than other sales offered throughout the year.
Spoiler alert… many retailers offer the same discounts they have at other times during the year. In fact, a Nerdwallet study found that retailers offer the exact same discounted prices on Black Friday as other sales throughout the year.
They aren’t stupid. Retailers know that many Americans are going to take the bait.
They strategically advertise “lowest prices of the season”, persuading shoppers that this is a ONCE A YEAR event and you must GET IT NOW.
As a result, many shoppers end up making impulsive purchases with money they don’t have to spend.
But it’s ok. Because they got a DEAL.
No deal is good enough to go into debt.
Many Americans find themselves putting Black Friday purchases on their credit card in the name of getting a good deal.
If you can’t afford to pay cash for it RIGHT NOW, you can’t afford it.
Cut the “but i’ll pay it off when I get paid next week” crap and tell yourself no.
It is proven that when you shop with cash, you spend less. Cash is a pain point.
To really save some money, shop with some hundo’s. Break out those Ben Franklins.
It is a lot harder to hand over your hard-earned cash than it is to swipe a credit or debit card. Psychologically our brains process more pain when we pay with cash.
If you really want to combat impulsive spending and ensure that you stick to your list, use cash.
Remember how just a few hours before you began your shopping extravaganza you were reflecting on how blessed you are and that instagram post you made with #blessings and #thankful?
Focus on walking your talk. Be content with what you ALREADY have.
It can be tempting to spend money that you weren't planning on spending trying to keep up with others, especially during the holiday season. Trust me, I get it. But also trust me on this- it's not worth it!
You don't need the latest and greatest camera to take pictures of your sons soccer game. It's a soccer game not the freaking cover of National Geographic.
Get the point? #honesty.
If you shop after the midnight/morning rush, you won't feel as pressured to make impulsive purchases.
When you shop with the crowd, you probably have an adrenaline rush... a rush that is telling you if you don't snag everything that you possibly can and buy it now, you will be defeated by the mob!
Sure, you may sacrifice some deals since it is first come first serve, but every time that I've gone Black Friday shopping and went back to the store later in the day, the same sales were going on, and the same products were still available.
Otherwise, do ALL your shopping online on Cyber Monday!
