The one thing that I search often on Pinterest is money saving beauty hacks. So, I figured I'd share the ones that I've found along the way!
It's no secret that being a girl is EXPENSIVE.
My husband's reply to that would be "It doesn't have to be!"... and actually, I agree (I know, I'm just as shocked).
BUT, it's the truth. You don't have to spend a fortune to have quality beauty products, and you don't have to feel guilty for buying them!
The sad truth is that these days it's no thing to spend $200+ on a trip to Sephora or Victoria's secret.
For most people, that isn't feasible or sustainable.
There's a smarter way to go about it! One that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars and make you have instant buyers remorse.
Here are my simple hacks for beauty on a budget!
I've been doing this for years!
It's way cheaper than buying makeup remover pads/wipes and in my personal opinion it does a better job!
Plus, not only does olive oil moisturize the skin, it easily dissolves makeup so it comes off really easy! It also has 4 antioxidants so it helps with anti-aging!
To use all you will need is two cotton balls with a dab of oil on each. Rub over your eyes and your makeup will be off in a matter of seconds.
Tip: Extra virgin olive oil works the best!
This probably sounds crazy and kind of gross, but I swear by this!
I've used Crest whitening strips before and they do work great, but there's no way I could keep it up with the cost, and my teeth are sensitive so it was always painful when I would put the strips on. I've also tried baking soda and toothpaste and all other sorts of Pinterest concoctions, but NOTHING works as good as this.
I don't always remember to use it faithfully, but hydrogen peroxide does WONDERS for your teeth.
I swish it around for 30 seconds (it doesn't taste like anything so don't worry), and then rinse with water. Give yourself a week and I can almost guarantee that you will notice a difference.
The best part? It cost 99 cents ! That's a lot cheaper than any whitening strips you'll see at the grocery store!
Although I do have expensive taste, I get the majority of my makeup at drug stores.
I have tried just about every brand from the drugstore, and have found the product from each brand that is the highest quality.
I ALWAYS get my foundation at the drug store, and I have found the two that work the best for my skin (combination):
I also always get my mascara at the drug store, and I usually get the two following brands:
Here are a few other of my favorites that work just as good as any high-end brand!
When I was broke in college, I decided one summer to buy myself a wax machine so that I wouldn't have to go to the salon all the time.
This was another great investment. It saves me tons of money every year.
If you are going to the salon regularly and paying $7-10 for a lip wax that adds up really fast!
I bought the Gigi Wax Kit Set , and it has lasted me for years.
The only thing I have to do is replace the wax and wax strips and I've only replaced them once since I bought it.
I LOVE my wax machine and I save tons of money by skipping a wax at the salon!
There is almost always a makeup coupon in the Sunday paper. All it takes is 30 seconds to cut the coupon and boom- you've saved $3.
That may not seem like much, but depending on how often you buy/go through makeup it could save you a lot!
I use coupons for my foundation, mascara, and eyeliner. I usually save $5 every time I buy makeup!
For me, it adds up to about $60 a year.
Give it a try- see how much you can save!
Whether it be hair care, lotions, perfumes or makeup, I never EVER buy name brand products if it isn't on sale.
To me, that's a cardinal sin.
I must confess, I am especially picky when it comes to shampoo. I'm definitely two types of snobs- a shampoo snob and a coffee snob (I blame it on growing up on the west coast).
So, being the frugal queen I am, how do I get by? I usually only buy shampoo once or twice a year, either on Black Friday or during Ulta's liter sale (which by the way is going on through the end of January!).
So, I buy 4 liter bottles of shampoo at $15 a piece, and it lasts me the whole year! This year I got Redken, Hempz, Biolage, and Matrix.
It pays to do a little research and buy in bulk sometimes!
I do the same with makeup and lotions. I usually get all my lotion when Victoria's Secret is having their $5 sale, and I get my name brand makeup on Black Friday at Ulta, and I usually don't step foot in those stores the rest of the year.
This is extremely simple and practical way to clean your brushes!
I used to buy expensive makeup brush cleaner from Sephora that came in a teeny tiny bottle and cost about $20.
Fast forward a couple years and I've realized that is a ridiculous amount to spend on a flippin brush cleaner.
So, I did a little research and I now use baby shampoo to clean my makeup brushes. I simply add water, a couple of squirts of the shampoo, and swirl the brushes around a few times.
When the brushes are done drying they are clean, super soft, and smell amazing.
It works like a dream!
When I first heard of Ebates, I thought it was a scam and was very hesitant to give it a try. After being referred by multiple blogs I follow and read all the time, I gave it a try.
Much to my surprise, I was really impressed! What's the best part?
THEY GIVE CASH BACK ON SEPHORA PURCHASES.
Yes, you read that right.
I've always found it extremely hard to find coupons for stores like Sephora, Ulta, Clinique, etc., but Ebates gives cash back on all those stores.
DISCLAIMER: Make sure that you are only buying things that you would normally buy. It can be tempting to buy things you don't normally use and that you don't need just because you have coupons and get cash back.
Use it wisely and it can save you some serious dollars! Some popular stores they give cash back at includes Walmart, Kohls, Petco, Groupon, JC Penny, Nike, Gap & Under Armour.
It's worth checking out-
