We used a lot of fake flowers, and you honestly couldn't tell the difference from real ones. Be sure to compare prices with real flowers, because if you buy real flowers in bulk they can sometimes be cheaper than fake flowers.
You can rent a thousand dollar dress for a couple hundred dollars. Consider renting your dress or buying used if you're not that sentimental about your dress!
Skip the Saturday wedding for sure to save money, but to REALLY save money get married on a weekday. Getting married on a weekday saved us over $1,000.
We spent a couple hundred dollars on flowers for our wedding because we bought flowers in bulk from a wholesaler and put the bouquets together ourselves!
Sam's Club has amazingly beautiful premade wedding flowers and bulk flowers for a fantastic low price.
There are hundreds of options to choose from, and it's A LOT cheaper than going through a florist!
They will deliver the flowers two days prior to your wedding!
You can save so much money by ordering invites online, and specifically through a wholesaler like Sam's Club or Costco. Minted also has some great options, and they frequently do specials! Check out the beautiful save the date pictured below!
You can get wedding invites, save the date's and programs for 68 cents per card at Sam's Club. That's way cheaper than using Shutterfly or Vistaprint.
Having the ceremony and reception at the same place means less decor, only one rental fee, and no limo/party bus needed! Plus, it often makes the events of the night go smoother.
Alcohol can be a large expense, depending on how many guests you have. Most of it will end up in half full cups. If possible, buy your own alcohol in bulk and hire a bartender. You can save thousands!
Instead of paying a coordinator, have a family member or family friend be your day of coordinator and give them a gift card.
Often times rehearsal dinners can end up being $1-$2k depending on the size of your wedding party. Have the dinner at a family home instead!

This new trend can be pretty spendy, DIY it yourself instead! Make the background, buy a photo booth kit, and let guests use their own cameras to snap a photo.
A quick way to earn some of your money back is to sell everything immediately after the wedding! Pick a few things to keep and get rid of the rest. If you wait a while, it probably won't happen, so do it right away!
Choose a few things to personalize, and skip the rest! For example, I didn't personalize our napkins, we just bought plain napkins from a wholesaler.
Save the dates are not a necessity. If you have a really tight budget, skip them. We ordered ours from Costco for under $100.
Hobby Lobby is a store that almost every bride ends up having a receipt from. If you are buying an item at full price, don't do it unless you have their 40% off coupon handy!
I went barefoot most of wedding, but when I was wearing shoes it was inexpensive flats. Unless you have a short dress, skip the fancy bridal shoes!
Only have family, or only have a few friends. If you really want to save money, keep the bridal party small.
Only serve drinks with the meal. Alcohol can be one of the biggest expenses, so to cut costs open the bar once dinner is served.
